Patrick Boyle with
his takedown of the Metaverse - a boondoggle which was obvious at the time, but one which there was no telling Mark Zuckerberg, or even Tim Cook, who followed him down a rabbit hole which case billions of dollars and worse - a decade of eyes-off-the-AI-ball. Pokemon had a lot to do with it, but also the fallout of Cambridge Analytica + Apple forcing double opt in for app tracking which made Zuckerberg feel the need to abandon social networking on mobile / laptops in favour of a new world entirely viewed through wearables. He might get there with Meta Ray-bans…but even here, I doubt it becomes ubiquitous.
