There has been an epidemic of over delegation in white collar work, where managers seek to offload the work to junior members of staff, whilst failing to empower them to own the problem, solution or outcomes. All it does is increase the overall amount of effort required, only feeling more efficient because the over-delegator has now insulated themselves from the consequences of their actions.
