Derek Thompson is a very decent commentator, who manages to bring technical information from different domains into a single essay which the non-specialist audience can understand. Here he challenges the notion that AI is responsible for hiring demand, pointing out that actually it was the End of ZIRP (and maybe the small matter of end of globalisation…) but then goes on to describe it probably does make a difference after all. I’m generally aligned with this view, though I suspect AI as a general suppressant of hiring demand is more underplayed than Thompson describes.
