It’s strange to take optimism from a refutation so this article lands rather strangely; however, it is an important read as it challenges the narrative that AI is already having an impact in employment, mainly by examining the rate of occupational change in sectors highly exposed to or by AI. The tentative conclusion (shouldn’t all conclusions be tentative by now?) is that whilst unemployment has risen, AI is not the direct cause. H/T to brainfooder Belinda Johnson for the share. Follow Belinda btw, she is great source for labour economics.
