Fascinating retro from a non-CS job candidate who ended up getting a technical job at one of the leading frontier LLM lab. It’s a forensic breakdown of all of the important components of success: mindset, self development, consciously oscillating between tactical and strategic work. This is a great essay for anyone who is on the job search today, or planning out career with a 5 year plan in mind.
