Economic ‘performance’ is often measured in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) - variably described as the sum of the value of economic activity with a national state unit. However, the efficacy of GDP as a measure of economic health has come into strong critique. The democratic removal of incumbent governments in 2024 reveals a story of people being crushed by real economic conditions condescendingly described as a ‘vibecession’.
