Pandemic rewrote the economic geography worldwide; seasonal workers returned home and didn’t come back; metropolitan workers shifted to remote to relocated to cheaper and better places to live. The effects seems to have stabilised in 2023, with internal migration now being further suppressed by a mortgage market locked by high interest rates and dwindling housing supply.
