When did ‘sourcing’ become a thing? Great

Andre Bradshaw’s textual analysis of the 120,000 LinkedIn profiles of recruiters, which suggest that the sourcing golden age was between late n00ghties to late 2010’s. This makes sense as it tracks the exponential growth of big data produced by social media users which smart recruiters could convert into usable recruiting information. Peak sourcing might have passed though, as instances of the term is in decline - perhaps evidence of the shift of priority from ‘finding’ to ‘engaging’ candidates - and consequently a folding of the function back into just plain old vanilla recruiting.
